Introduction of vape disposal bins in Falkland Islands retailers
Dedicated vape disposal bins are being introduced in participating retailers across Stanley to provide residents with a safe and convenient way to dispose of used and unwanted vaping devices.
Participating retailers are:
- Pro-install
- West Store
Vaping devices contain lithium batteries that can cause fires, pollute the environment, and harm wildlife if disposed of incorrectly. The new bins will help ensure that these items are collected separately and managed safely.
This initiative forms part of wider efforts to improve waste management and reduce the environmental impact of waste in the Falkland Islands. By providing clearly marked collection points in accessible community locations, residents will have a simple way to dispose of vapes responsibly.
While the contents of the bins will not currently be recycled, separate collection allows these items to be handled more safely than if they were discarded in household bins or left in the environment.
We encourage everyone who uses vaping products to make use of these new facilities and help keep our communities clean and safe. That small action makes a significant difference.
