wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>The primary role of the Legal Services Team is to provide the Falkland Islands Government, and in particular its departments, with timely and effective legal advice and representation.&nbsp;The team also provide advice and representation for the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We work for the Government.&nbsp;&nbsp;We do not work for or provide advice to individuals<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 however we can assist individuals who need either&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.fk\/legalservices\/government-legal-services\/notarial-and-commissioner-for-oaths-services\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"42\">Notarial Services or the services of a Commissioner of Oaths<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1vh\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our work i<\/strong>n<strong>cludes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Supporting the Governor, the Legislative Assembly Members and all levels of Government when making decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We provide Government and Government Departments with legal advice on matters such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Constitution and the rights of individuals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safeguarding and protecting children and the vulnerable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public Services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Land and Property rights and transactions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contracts and Disputes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Licences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tax and Pensions Law<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing the Government in courts and tribunals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.fk\/legalservices\/government-legal-services\/the-prosecution-service\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"52\">The Prosecution Service<\/a>&nbsp;is an independent service within the Legal Services Team which is responsible for the prosecution of criminal cases and for providing advice on to the Royal Falkland Islands Police and other Government Departments responsible for investigating criminal activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many members of our team are qualified lawyers entitled to practice in other jurisdictions such as England &amp; Wales, Scotland and Commonwealth countries either as Solicitors or Barristers.&nbsp; In the Falkland Islands we are all recognised legal practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1vh\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
