Emergency Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the event of a genuine medical emergency \u2013 when someone is seriously ill, injured or their life is at risk \u2013 call 999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hospital\u2019s Accident and Emergency department is open between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours the casualty nurse is on-call for emergencies or ambulance call outs, and can be contacted via 28052. There is a full theatre team on duty throughout the usual working week and available via the on-call system outside of these times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KEMH has two designated, intensive care beds, but can accommodate up to nine ventilated patients if the need arose. Critically ill patients who cannot be cared for at the hospital will be stabilised and then transported to Chile or Uruguay by medevac.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
