We are fortunate to have a team of highly dedicated and skilled retained Firefighters.

Each Firefighter is expected to pass a local recruits course, designed to provide them with the basic firefighting skills that they need. Once this is completed, training sessions are held every Wednesday night between 6pm and 9pm, as well as a full day’s training every month (depending on operational duties). This training covers a wide range of skills that need to be developed and maintained in order to attend the range of incidents we may be called to within the Falkland Islands.

Retained Firefighters are split into four watches. Each of these watches is headed by a full time member of staff, supported by a retained Crew Manager, and up to 9 Firefighters. Each watch is on call for a week out of the month. Our list of Retained Firefighters and watches is currently:

Blue WatchX 10 Retained Fire Fighters
Black WatchX 10 Retained Fire Fighters
Red WatchX 10 Retained Fire Fighters
Green WatchX 10 Retained Fire Fighters
