Banknotes and coins of both currencies are used interchangeably within the Falkland Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All Falkland Islands currency has been issued by Falkland Islands Government, and is fully backed by realisable securities held in Sterling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Currency Ordinance 1987 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.fk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.fk\/<\/a>) determines three Commissioners of Currency who have the right to issue currency notes and coins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bank notes in circulation in the Falkland Islands are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5 pounds (red)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10 pounds (green)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20 pounds (brown)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>50 pounds (blue, green and red combination)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Coins in circulation in the Falkland Islands are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1p &#8211; Penguins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2p \u2013 Upland goose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5p \u2013 Albatross<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10p \u2013 Sea lion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20p \u2013 Sheep<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>50p \u2013 Warrah, and eleven new designs featuring different penguins.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a31 \u2013 Coat of Arms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a32 \u2013 Map of the Falkland Islands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are interested in the currency of the Falkland Islands, there are some pictures here: &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.falklandcollectibles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.falklandcollectibles.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Treasury in Stanley is open in the mornings on weekdays, but does not sell currency to collectors by post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Falkland Collectibles will be able to assist collectors &#8211; &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.falklandcollectibles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.falklandcollectibles.com\/<\/a>&nbsp;. All items sold by Falkland Collectibles are dispatched by airmail on the next available flight that leaves the Islands. All mail goes to the United Kingdom first before onward despatch to the rest of the world, and all mail will use Falkland Islands postage stamps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Falkland Islands also issues postage stamps for local and international mail. The role of Post Master and the responsibility for postage rates, design and value of all stamp and philatelic products rests within the responsibilities of the Treasury of Falkland Islands Government.
