The Directorate of Policy, Economy & Corporate Services, through the Environment Department, is responsible for providing the following licences and permits:

Research Licences

For persons to conduct Environmental Research in the Falkland Islands

Please note for research which involves handling protected plant or animal species or you are considering studying nationally protected animals, applications will be considered by the Environmental Committee. It is suggested applications are submitted at least 8 weeks before Environmental Committee.

Environment committee dates for 2025 are: 
04 April,  30 May,  05 September, Unfortunately 05 December has had to be cancelled

Section 9 Licence

For applicants seeking a licence under Section 9 of the COWNO to conduct certain activities which contravene the Conservation of Wildlife and Nature Ordinance 1999.

Visitor permits

For individuals and groups to visit and land on FIG owned Islands, other than Kidney Island.

Licence to Collect Eggs from a Protected Species

For persons to collect eggs (including penguin eggs) for human consumption

Licence to Cull Protected Birds

For permission for Farmers to shoot Turkey Vultures and Caranchos.
