FALKLAND ISLANDS GOVERNMENT<\/strong> – PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12-month suspension of PRP applications<\/strong> 30 July 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been five years since the last amendments to the Permanent Residence Permit (PRP) system, and Executive Council has taken the decision that a full review is now required to assess whether the system continues to operate in the best interests of the Falkland Islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is considered necessary to ensure that the granting of permanent residence is well managed, and remains based on applicants\u2019 tangible contributions to the Islands\u2019 community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would be impossible for the Immigration Dept to undertake this major piece of work while also<\/em> continuing to process applications as usual, so a 12-month suspension of PRP applications has been approved. This will take effect from 1September this year, meaning that 1 September 2027 is the earliest that applications will be received again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Guidance and Forms will be available in time for the return of the PRP system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
